Obituary for Bobby Lee Kinard

Barnwell, SC
Bobby Kinard passed away into the arms of his loving Savior on Saturday, August 3, 2019.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mellie Brant Kinard. He was born in Ulmers, South Carolina, son of J.B. and Pauline Kinard on October 11, 1943.        
  Bobby lived life to the fullest and especially enjoyed his time in the country living in nature and raising his goats. Bobby’s life consisted of many phases, beginning with his graduation from Clemson University in 1965. He began his teaching career at Pelion High School where he led his young men to many successful endeavors, He also surveyed land on the side.
In 1973 he moved his family to Ulmer to operate Interstate Restaurant and later Interstate Truck Terminal. He never met a stranger and formed many friendships over the years of living in Ulmer.
In 1983 he moved his family back to Pelion where his career entered another phase when he began teaching at the S.C. Department of Corrections. Bobby loved his job there, his colleagues, and the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of many inmates.
Upon his second retirement in 2012 he moved permanently to his home in rural Barnwell County. He loved riding his golf cart watching its crooks and bends and just soaking up God’s beautiful bounty.         
He was a member of Great Saltkehatchie Baptist Church in Ulmer where he served as a deacon and teacher of the Lois Myrick Sunday school class. Bobby was also a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, 17th Regional Camp 2069, Hilda S.C.       
   He is survived by his wife, Mellie Brant Kinard of Barnwell, his son Robbie (Suzanne) Kinard of Columbia, his daughter, Julie K. (Edward) Welch of West Columbia, and his grandchildren; Ben Welch, Katie Welch and J.R. Kinard; his brother, James E. Kinard of Cowpens; his sisters, Marilyn Kinard and Joyce Kinard of Barnwell, and a sister in law, Sally B. Smith of Barnwell.       
   Visitation is from 6-8 pm on Monday, August 5, 2019 at Great Saltkehatchie Baptist Church in Ulmer.        
  Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at the church with interment to follow in Great Saltkehatchie Church Cemetery.
