Obituary for Brenda Pitman Bennett

AllendaleBrenda Pitman Bennett, 73, of Allendale died Friday December 25, 2020 at Allendale County Hospital.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Swallow Savannah Cemetery. Born on November 7, 1947,

Brenda was the daughter of the late Lyman Pitman, Sr. and Margaret Goodman Pitman. She was raised in Fairfax South Carolina and graduated from Allendale-Fairfax High School. Brenda served first as law clerk and then as Associate Probate Judge to Judge Carroll E. Reeves. She was highly regarded during her career as Allendale County Probate Judge, which she considered an honor, for 28 years. She was known by her grandchildren and their friends as “Bombom” and reveled in that role. She was a member of Allendale First Baptist Church.

Brenda was married to the late Samuel Roberds Bennett, Sr for 49 years. She is survived by two sons, Rob Bennett (Elizabeth) of Highlands, North Carolina, and Hal Bennett (Nicci) of Hampton as well as 6 grandchildren: Turner, Brice, Tucker, Annie Bray, Law, and Beck. Also surviving are her brother, James N. Pitman of Charlotte, as well as several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

She was predeceased in death by her brother, Lyman Pitman, Jr. and her sister, Judith P. Manuel.

The family would like to thank the staff at Allendale County Hospital for the compassionate care they provided. Gratitude is also extended to Brenda’s close friends, church family, and her neighbors of Christiana Estates for their love and support.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Allendale County Hospital or Swallow Savannah Cemetery Fund, 493 Concord Church Rd., Ulmer, SC 29849.
