Born to Nellie Rhodes Madden and Frank Delano Madden in Clearwater, SC, Faye attended Clearwater Baptist Church and The Public Schools of Langley-Bath-Clearwater. She was preceded in death by older siblings, Eddie Madden (brother) and Joan M Morris (sister).

Faye graduated from The University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC where she met and eventually married Bennie C Pendarvis, Jr, MD. Their union of fifty six years was blessed with three children: Bennie C Pendarvis III of Mt Pleasant, SC, Rachel P Wiggins, PT, MHS (Bob) of Estill, SC, and Walker T Pendarvis, DMD, MHS (Kelly) of Savannah, GA; and four grandchildren, Callie, Jackson, and Abbie Wiggins, and Rhodes Pendarvis.

Faye taught in The Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College and served for several years in the Central Technical College office in Columbia as an evaluator of the College Programs.While at USC, Faye was a productive member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority and supported her Angel Sisterhood until the very end of her life. She was an active member of The Junior Service League of Orangeburg and the St Andrews UMC where she served several years on the Board of Trustees.

After an active life of service, she and Ben moved to Land’s End on the St Helena Island, SC where she enjoyed a hobby of taking beautiful sunset pictures and sharing them with her family and friends.

After a ten year struggle with the neurological problem of NPH, she died among family and friends at home. Assistance was provided by MSA Hospice Care and Senior Helpers.

Graveside services for friends and family will be at the Swallow Savannah Cemetery in Allendale, SC at 12:00 Noon on Friday, December 13, 2019 after a brief gathering of family only at Keith Smith Funeral Service, 128 Water Street, Allendale, SC. at 10:30am. The service will be conducted by Rev Brian Toney of Estill, SC.

Address memorials to The Pi Beta Phi Foundation, Medical University of SC Foundation, the Beaufort Memorial Hospital Foundation, or the charity of your choice. No flowers please.
