Obituary for James Wendell Tyler

James Wendell Tyler, 92, husband of the late Amaryllis Newsome Tyler, died Friday, August 30, 2019.            

Mr. Tyler was born in Neeses, SC and was the son of the late Josie L. Tyler, Sr. and Myrtle R. Tyler. He attended the Fairfax School, was a graduate of The University of South Carolina, and an avid Gamecock. Wendell was a US Army Veteran having served in Korea, and was a retired employee of Southern Soya Corporation in Estill. He was a member of Brunson United Methodist Church, having served his church faithfully.            

Graveside Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 7, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at the Fairfax Cemetery, conducted by the Reverend Kenneth B. Timmerman and the Reverend Carol Holladay. The family will hold visitation and receive friends, following services, at Brunson United Methodist Church.            

Survivors include his two daughters: Jennifer P. Randall (Dan), Vickers P. Harrelson; grandchildren Jessica L. Randall, E.C. Harrelson, Jr., Robert M. Harrelson, and Rebecca A. Branden (Grant); great-granddaughter Mira Branden; nephews E. F. Smith (Mary Ellen), David Smith, and Lee Tyler (Adriana); niece Leette Burns (Donnie); and numerous great nieces and nephews.             

He was preceded in death by brothers: Josie L. Tyler, Jr., Rabe R. Tyler, and Davie L. Tyler, and a sister Meda T. Smith.            

Memorial contributions may be made to Brunson United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 473, Brunson, SC 29911.
