Obituary for Thomas B. Grubbs

Thomas B. Grubbs, 78, of Barnwell S.C. passed away on March 16, 2020 at Augusta University after a brief illness.He was born in Allendale S.C. to the late J.V. Grubbs Sr. and Kathryn L. Grubbs. Tommy was a member of the Barnwell Rescue Squad in the 1970’s, a reserve game warden for the SCDNR during the 1970’s and 1980’s and served as a Captain with the City of Barnwell Fire Dept. until 1992. He retired from Bellsouth. He was a member of Mt. Lebanon Christian church in the 1980’s and 90’s where he served as a deacon and men’s Sunday school teacher.  

Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 19, 2020 at Mt Arnon Baptist Church in Allendale with Reverend Farrell Ray and Reverend Paul Reed officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Bonnie Williams Grubbs of Appling Ga, his two daughters Gwen Alewine (Sam) of Chapin,S.C. and Missy Cato (Mark) of Barnwell,S.C. He has 7 Grandchildren, Christopher Still (Savannah), Joseph Still (Jessica), Michelle Black (Joey), Tyler Cato, Tanner Cato, Clair Alewine Harmon (Benji) and Kim Alewine Carter (Jonathon). He has 5 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his two brothers, J.V. Grubbs Jr. and Jimmy Grubbs and one sister, Frankie Nichols.

The visitation will be held From 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Keith Smith Funeral Service, 128 Water Street, Allendale, SC. 29810. 803-584-2492
